The Spectacular Spider-Man #57 (of 1000)
These Wings Enslaved!
August 31st, 1981
When a fancy dinner event goes horribly wrong, only one man stands between innocent people and certain doom - J. Jonah Jameson!?
At a party, Will-O-The-Wisp, in his scattered molecule form, held possession over Killer Shrike's body and used his suit to kidnap Marla Madison. After an unwilling Shrike brought Marla to a secret Brands Corporation laboratory, Wisp revealed that he needed her help to form his body back together again.
Spider-Man arrived on the scene, and almost stopped her. After learning that Marla was trying to save Wisp, whom Spider-Man owed his life to, he aided her in stopping the head of Brands Corporation, James Melvin, from interfering with the process, along with the act of silencing them.
However, upon successfully returning Wisp to his condensed body later, he blew up the laboratory by overloading the electrical system, leaving Spider-Man to rescue Marla, Melvin, and his gunmen from the burning building. As the fire department tried to put out the fire, Spider-Man observed a ball of light rose into the sky, wondering if they had done the right thing in reviving Wisp.
